Practice Guidelines

Practice guidelines are developed by the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba to help occupational therapists meet ACOTRO's Essential Competencies of Practice for Occupational Therapists in Canada by:

  • increasing members' knowledge of their responsibilities,
  • describing expectations for practice,
  • defining safe, ethical, competent practice, and
  • guiding critical thinking for everyday practice.

Presently, COTM has four guidelines:

  1. Managing Client Information - Meeting Legislative Obligations 2017 replacing Client Records in Occupational Therapy Practice (retired)
  2. Assignment and Supervision in Occupational Therapy Practice
  3. Informed Consent in Occupational Therapy Practice
  4. Occupational Therapy Assessment
